About YYC Girls Night
YYC Girls Night was created to make it easier for women in Calgary to meet, connect, and build real friendships - without the awkwardness.
What started as simple social gatherings has grown into a welcoming, high-energy community where women can show up solo, feel instantly included, and leave with meaningful connections.
We curate experiences across wellness, social events, business networking, book club, and life-skills workshops - creating space for women to grow personally, professionally, and socially. Whether you’re coming for Pilates, a themed night, a panel discussion, or a coffee chat, every event is designed to feel exciting, safe, and genuinely welcoming.
Beyond connection between women, YYC Girls Night also bridges community and business. We intentionally collaborate with local brands and partners to create opportunities for women to discover, support, and connect with businesses in a way that feels authentic and relationship-driven.
At its core, this is more than a night out.
It’s a space where friendships form, confidence grows, and community comes first.
You don’t have to know anyone to come.
You just have to show up.

Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Alanna - and YYC Girls Night honestly started by accident.
It began with me and a couple friends going out, trying new places, sharing our experiences, and just having fun with it. We’d post about where we were, what we were doing, and before long, people kept asking if they could join.
One dinner turned into a bigger group.
Then bigger.
Then bigger.
At some point, I realized it wasn’t just about going out - there were so many women looking for exactly this. A way to meet people. A reason to try something new. A space that felt welcoming but still exciting.
So we stopped just “going out” and started curating events intentionally.
Now, I host the kinds of experiences I’d personally want to attend - wellness nights, networking events, book clubs, themed socials, workshops - and open them up so other women can experience them together.
Outside of Girls Night, I’m also the founder of Social Boss and deeply involved in Calgary’s business community. I love building brands, connecting with new businesses, and exploring what our city has to offer. YYC Girls Night naturally became a space where those worlds intersect - where women can connect not only with each other, but with incredible local businesses and opportunities.
At the core of it, I just love bringing people together.
If there’s something fun to do, I’m probably going to plan it - and invite everyone.
And the fact that so many women have said yes?
That’s the best part.
Some Details
(In Case You’re Curious)
Can I come alone?
Yes. Please don’t let that stop you.
So many women come alone - especially to their first event. That’s kind of the whole reason this exists. You’re not behind. You’re not weird. You’re just showing up.
And once you’re there, you’ll realize how many other girls did the exact same thing.
What kind of girls come to Girls Night?
All different kinds.
Entrepreneurs, 9–5 girls, creatives, moms, girls new to the city, girls who just want to get out more. There’s no “type.” The only common thread is being open and friendly.
It’s honestly just a room full of women who decided they wanted more connection in their life.
What are the events actually like?
They’re relaxed. Welcoming. High energy in a good way.
Every event is a little different - sometimes it’s wellness, sometimes networking, sometimes book club or a themed night - but the vibe is always the same. You can show up as yourself and not feel out of place.
There’s no pressure to be anyone other than who you are.
Is it cliquey?
No.
That was important to me from the beginning. Most women are meeting for the first time, so everyone’s on the same level. It’s not a “who do you know?” kind of space.
Can I bring a friend?
Of course!
Come alone, bring one friend, bring a few - whatever feels comfortable for you. A lot of women bring someone for their first event, and a lot come solo. Both are completely normal.
Just make sure everyone grabs their own ticket before we sell out!
What’s the age range?
It varies and everyone is welcome!
Most women are in their 20s-40s, but it’s less about age and more about being open to connection. We have women in different seasons of life, and that’s what makes it interesting. We have seen a range between the ages of 18-late 70’s and we love it!
What should I wear?
Whatever makes you feel good.
Some events are active, some are more dressed up, some are super casual - we usually share the vibe ahead of time. But overall, it’s not about impressing anyone.
It’s about feeling comfortable and excited to be there.
Do you partner with businesses?
Yes of course! And we love it!
Girls Night naturally became a place where women connect not just with each other, but with local businesses and experiences around the city. I genuinely love exploring new spots and bringing the community with me.
If you’re a business interested in partnering, I’m always open to that conversation.
How can my business partner with you?
We love connecting with local businesses and finding ways to bring them into the community in a way that feels genuine.
If your brand aligns with our audience and you’re interested in collaborating - whether that’s hosting, sponsoring, gifting, or something creative - reach out. We are always open to conversations and new ideas!
